Go International - Turkey

On 25 November 2020, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised in partnership with the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Ankara its webinar series “Go International” on Turkey.

This webinar is part of the “Go International” event series, organised by the International Affairs team at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, dedicated to further trade relations and to assist companies from Luxembourg in exploring new markets.

The webinar was moderated by Mrs. Edith Stein, Senior Advisor of International Relations at the Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Cindy Tereba, Director of International Affairs at the Chamber of Commerce and H.E. Ms. Angèle Da Cruz, Ambassador-designate of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Turkey delivered opening speeches with a general overview of the Luxembourg-Turkey bilateral economic relations.

Following the introductory remarks, four distinguished panelists took the floor :

  • Mr. Atilla D. Yerlikaya, General Manager for Corporate Strategy and Policy of Amazon Turkey and Chairman of the Turkey-Luxembourg Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) addressed the business potential in Turkey and the impact of Covid-19 on the Turkish economy.
  • Mr. Levent Apaydin, Chairman of the Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Turkey (BLCCT) elaborated on the business opportunities In Turkey for Luxembourg companies.
  • Mr. Nihat Narin, CEO of the Istanbul Investment Agency (IIA) shared the Istanbul municipality’s plans for economic development in the region.
  • Mr. Serdar Alemdar, General Manager of ODTÜ Teknokent, Middle East Technical University’s technopark gave an overview of the start-up ecosystem In Turkey and the potential ICT cooperation between Turkey and Luxembourg.

Following a Q&A session with the audience, Mrs. Edith Stein concluded the webinar with an optimistic outlook on further developments of economic and trade cooperation between Luxembourg and Turkey.
