Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider at 83rd İzmir Fair

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, Etienne Schneider participated, on 29 August 2014, in the opening ceremony of the 83rd Izmir International Fair. Following the addresses made by various Turkish officials and representatives, the Minister took the floor to underline the importance that Luxembourg attaches to developing its economic and commercial relations with Turkey.

Minister Schneider visited the Luxembourg stand at the fair, together with the Ambassador Arlette Conzemius and the Honorary Consul in Izmir Feyhan Yaşar. The Directorate General of Tourism of the Ministry of Economy of Luxembourg participated in the Izmir International Fair, in cooperation with the National Office of Tourism, in order to promote Luxembourg as a tourism destination. Representatives from the Luxembourg office of Turkish Airlines were also present at the stand to promote direct flights between Istanbul and Luxembourg.

During his visit in Izmir, Minister Schneider also had the opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Davut Kavranoğlu in order to discuss the prospects for cooperation between the two countries. Finally, a group of prominent business people from Izmir and Istanbul came together with the Minister at a closing dinner, organized by the Embassy of Luxembourg and the Honorary Consulate in Izmir.
